ORACLE Lighting Granted U.S. Patent for LED Tail Light Design for Toyota 4Runner
METAIRIE, LA (June 11, 2025) – ORACLE Lighting, a leader in innovative automotive LED solutions, proudly announces that the United States Patent and Trademark Office has officially granted a patent for the company’s pioneering Lensless LED Tail Light Design developed for the 2014–2023 Toyota 4Runner.
This unique design—now recognized with U.S. Patent protection—marks another milestone in automotive lighting innovation by taking a fresh approach to tail light design by utilizing a flush-mounted, rigid LED diffuser. The result is a sleeker, more refined aesthetic that seamlessly integrates with the vehicle’s body lines while offering enhanced durability and performance.
“This design is not just about style, it features plenty of real-world functionality,” said Justin Hartenstein, Director of Product Development at ORACLE Lighting. “By removing the lens, we’ve eliminated a common failure point and introduced a tail light that not only looks futuristic but is also durable and packed with features.”
No more problems backing up at night, that's because these LED reverse lights provide over 4,400 Lumens of rear-facing illumination. In addition of the attractive “signature style” LED lighting band and the high-output reverse light this design also features a “dynamic” turn signal effect. This “motion” or “sequential effect” is a fluid LED motion from the inside portion of the light to the outside portion of the light signifying the direction of the turn signal with a fluid animated LED sequence.
Designed and Engineered in the USA, The new modular design allows the light to be quickly disassembled for custom painting. The Reverse Light module can be easily removed from the black housing which can then be painted to match the body color of the vehicle to provide a more customized appearance which more seamlessly blends with the truck.
