Few rear ends in automotive history are as recognizable as the 1969 and 1970 Dodge Charger. The wide tail light design is a huge part of the car’s identity, so when ORACLE Lighting set out to modernize it, the goal was simple: preserve the iconic appearance while dramatically improving everything happening behind the lens.
Introducing the ORACLE Lighting 1969–1970 Dodge Charger Dynamic Sequential LED Tail Light Conversion Kit, Part #8209-023.
This new system brings modern LED brightness, dynamic sequential turn signals, a vivid startup animation, improved visibility, and true plug and play installation to one of the most legendary American muscle cars ever built.
But where this kit really stands out is in the engineering behind it.

One of the biggest differences between the ORACLE kit and other LED conversions on the market is immediately visible when the lights turn on.
The ORACLE system uses more than 3,000 LEDs across the complete kit.
By comparison, competing systems we evaluated use approximately 266 LEDs total.
That is more than just an impressive number. Increased LED density allows ORACLE to create a much smoother, brighter, and more uniform illuminated surface behind the factory Charger lens.
Instead of relying on a relatively small number of bright LED points, the ORACLE boards distribute light across thousands of individual LEDs. The result is a fuller, more refined appearance that better utilizes the Charger’s large tail light area.
More LEDs also give our engineers much greater control over animation and sequencing.

Individually controlled LED sections allow the Charger’s turn signals to sweep smoothly across the tail light rather than simply flashing large sections on and off.
The animation is precise, fluid, and instantly noticeable.
It gives the Charger a modern lighting signature without changing the exterior design that made the car famous.

The Charger kit also features ORACLE’s Dynamic Startup Sequence.
When the lighting system is activated, the LED arrays perform a vivid animated sequence before transitioning into the normal running light pattern.
It lasts only a few seconds, but it completely changes the experience of turning the lights on.
At a cruise night, car show, Cars and Coffee, or simply pulling the Charger out of the garage, the startup animation immediately draws attention to one of the car’s most recognizable styling features.
This is another area where the ORACLE kit separates itself from typical conversion systems.
Some competing LED kits require the installer to make individual wire connections during installation.
The ORACLE Charger conversion uses plug and play wiring designed to connect directly into the vehicle’s factory electrical system.
No cutting into the vehicle harness.
No tapping wires.
No figuring out which wire controls which function.
For a vehicle that may be more than 55 years old, preserving the original wiring is especially important.

We also paid close attention to how the LED boards physically mount inside the factory tail lights.
The ORACLE PCB assemblies are designed to install using the factory mounting hardware and factory gasket locations.
That means the conversion integrates into the original tail light assembly instead of relying on adhesive strips or improvised mounting methods to hold the LED boards in position.
This results in a cleaner installation, more consistent alignment, and a finished product that feels engineered for the Charger rather than adapted to fit it.

It is easy to look at two LED conversion kits and assume they are essentially doing the same thing. They are not.
Think of LED density in much the same way you would think about resolution on a display. More individually controlled points give the system greater control over how light is distributed and how animations appear.
With more than 3,000 LEDs available across the Charger system, ORACLE can create smoother transitions, more consistent illumination, and a richer visual effect across the entire factory lens.
That difference becomes especially obvious when the lights are viewed side by side.
The most important part of this project was knowing what not to change.
The 1969 and 1970 Charger already have one of the most recognizable rear designs ever created. It does not need to be reinvented.
Instead, ORACLE upgrades the technology behind it.
The factory lenses and housings remain the visual centerpiece. Behind them, modern LED electronics provide dramatically improved brightness, animation, sequencing, LED illumination, and reliability.
The result is a classic Charger that still looks like a classic Charger, right up until the lights come on.
Then you realize something very different is happening underneath.
