The First 5 Lighting Upgrades We'd Recommend to Any Jeep Wrangler JL Owner
The Jeep Wrangler JL is one of the most customized vehicles on the road. From lift kits to bumpers to lockers, Wrangler owners have an appetite for upgrades that's hard to match. But lighting is still one of the most overlooked areas, and one of the highest-impact changes you can make for both function and appearance.
We've been building lighting specifically for Jeep Wranglers longer than most companies have been in business. Here are the five upgrades we'd recommend first, plus a few honorable mentions worth knowing about.

1. Oculus Bi-LED Headlights
If there's one upgrade that changes how the whole rig looks and performs at the same time, it's the headlights. The factory Wrangler halogen units were designed to meet minimum legal requirements, not to light up a trail or impress anyone at a show.
The Oculus Bi-LED Projector Headlights replace the factory units entirely with 5,200 lumens of precision-focused LED output and a sharp DOT/SAE-compliant cutoff that puts light exactly where you need it without blinding oncoming traffic.

What separates the Oculus from a basic LED swap is the projector technology. You're not just getting more lumens; you're getting a controlled, usable beam that actually improves what you can see at night. The difference on a dark trail is significant.
Available in standard white, ColorSHIFT (full RGB+W with BC2 Bluetooth control), Switchback (white/amber DRL with sequential turn signal), and Heated Lens (for cold-weather climates where icing is a concern).

2. V2 Flush Mount LED Tail Lights
The factory Wrangler tail lights stick out from the body. That's not an opinion; it's the design. And for a vehicle that regularly brushes trees, squeezes past rocks, and parks in tight spots on the trail, protruding tail lights are the first thing to crack, snap, or get damaged.
The V2 Flush Mount LED Tail Lights solve that problem while upgrading to modern LED output at the same time. They sit flush against the body, dramatically reducing the exposure that causes factory light damage, and they look significantly better doing it.
The V2 designation means the current production includes enhanced surge protection, improved CAN-bus compatibility, and electrical protection built in. Same fitment, same part numbers, the same great look, just more durable and more refined internally than ever.
Available in Standard Red and Black Series (tinted) lenses.

3. Rear Bumper Reverse Lighting
Here's something most Wrangler owners don't realize until they're trying to back out of a campsite at 11 PM: the factory rear lighting on a JL is a single backup lamp buried in the bumper, and it was never designed with trail use or low-light maneuvering in mind
The Rear Bumper LED Reverse Lights are a plug-and-play replacement for the factory bumper reflectors, adding over 1,000 lumens of bright white output directly from the bumper. They wire directly into the factory reverse circuit with no additional switches, no relays, and no wiring modification required.
It's one of the most functional upgrades you can make for the money, and it's genuinely invisible until you put it in reverse.

4. Sidetrack LED Fender Lighting System
This is the upgrade that always gets questions. People see it on a build and assume it's custom fabrication. It isn't.
The Sidetrack LED Fender Lighting System replaces the factory fender vent cladding on the JL and JT with a purpose-built unit that integrates two lighting functions directly into the body: white entry lighting that activates when the doors are opened, and an amber side turn indicator that replaces the factory side marker.
The fit is OEM-contour, meaning it looks like it came from the factory. The installation uses the existing fender vent mounting points with no drilling, no modification, no fabrication. It just replaces what was already there and adds function to a panel that previously had none.
If you're building a clean JL and want something that adds utility, turn signal compliance, and a distinctive look without anything looking aftermarket, this is it.

5. Interior Lighting
The interior of a Wrangler is an afterthought from a lighting standpoint at the factory level. A dome light and whatever comes through the A-pillar isn't much to work with when you're loading gear after dark or want the cabin to feel more finished. ORACLE offers three interior directions depending on what you're after:
Dynamic ColorSHIFT LED Dashboard Kit
The easiest way to transform the cabin. Ultra-slim 2mm flexible LED strips conform to your dash contours and connect to your vehicle's USB port with no hardwiring and no permanent modifications. Control is handled via the included wireless remote or the free LOTUS LAMP smartphone app, which allows full pixel editing, custom color patterns, speed, brightness, and color transitions. Over 200 pre-programmed dynamic patterns plus static and pure white modes.
⚠️ Fits 2018–2023 Jeep Wrangler JL and 2020–2023 Gladiator JT only. Will not fit 2024+ models.
Ambient LED Footwell Kit
Two 15" waterproof LED strips for the footwell area in a range of fixed colors. A clean, low-profile install for drivers who want cabin ambiance without ColorSHIFT complexity.
StarLINER ColorSHIFT Fiber Optic Hardtop Headliner
The premium interior option. Self-contained acoustic fiber optic panels replace your hardtop headliner and create a starlit sky effect with full ColorSHIFT capability. One of the most dramatic interior upgrades available for a JL or JT.

Honorable Mentions
These didn't make the top five, but they're on a lot of the best Wrangler builds we've seen and worth knowing about when you're ready to go deeper.
VEGA™ Pod Lights Whether mounted on the hood or flush in the bumper, VEGA pods are one of the most versatile lighting tools for a Wrangler build. The universal hood mount kit positions pods forward-facing from the hood for wide flood coverage, while the flush mount setup integrates cleanly into the bumper without adding bulk. Output, beam control, and build quality are all best-in-class.

Rock Light Kit If you wheel at night, this isn't optional! It's a safety upgrade. ORACLE rock lights mount in the underbody to illuminate the terrain directly beneath the vehicle, so you can see what you're dropping a tire onto before it happens.

Pre-Runner Style LED Grill Light Kit Three 3W billet bolt LED marker lights that drop into existing factory grill holes with no drilling and no fabrication. It's one of the cleanest low-profile grill upgrades available for the JL and JT, and the V2 version adds more output and a refined look over the original.

LED Wheel Rings ORACLE invented the LED wheel ring category, and the Wrangler is one of the most popular platforms to run them on. Available in single row, double row, ColorSHIFT, RGB+W, and Dynamic ColorSHIFT configurations. The Dynamic version adds over 200 moving color patterns with free smartphone app control.

LED Off-Road Side Mirrors Factory-style Wrangler JL/JT mirrors with integrated LED light bars delivering 45° peripheral trail lighting from 2,200+ lumens per side. They look OEM, install like OEM, and give you genuine additional illumination on the sides of the vehicle that nothing else addresses.
